Light Ray

Layer 1 · Habitat: Open air

A huge, manta-shaped glider with thin, nearly translucent skin; herds circle the light rod for days without landing

Description

A huge, manta-shaped glider with skin so thin it is nearly translucent; the light rod shines through it, tracing its veins. Herds of them circle the rod for days without landing, feeding on drifting spores. They are harmless until something frightens them. Then the whole herd stampedes through the air, and anything on a ledge in their path is swept away.
