Offering Moths

Layer 1 · Habitat: Shrine Road

A cloud of moths with ash-grey wings that shed choking dust

Description

A cloud of moths with ash-grey wings, each the size of a palm. They are drawn to fire the way the pilgrims were drawn to the light: they swarm candles, lanterns and torches until they smother them, shedding a fine grey dust that chokes whoever breathes it. A shrine full of them sounds like soft rain.

Light Eater. At the start of each of the swarm's turns, nonmagical flames in its space or within 5 feet of it go out.

Swarm. The swarm can occupy another creature's space and vice versa, and it can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny creature. It can't regain Hit Points or gain Temporary Hit Points.

Choking Dust. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 11, each creature in the swarm's space. Failure: 7 (2d6) Poison damage, and the target has the Poisoned condition until the end of its next turn. If the swarm has half its Hit Points or fewer, the damage is 3 (1d6). Success: Half damage only.
